De Bevers, Waterwelpen, Zeeverkenners en Watergidsen are led by experienced staff teams. The Wilde Vaart, on the other hand, only has guides and the Loodsen do everything independently. In addition, the group consists of a board and we receive help from active parents.

Extra special activities are regularly organized (for example, a New Year's reception, opening and closing of the sailing season, weekends, and summer camps). There is also regularly something for the parents of the children to do in the group.

Do you think the environment is important?

The diesel engine of the Cycloon is broken, and therefore we would like to purchase a new electric motor costing 29,000 euros. A diesel engine, on the other hand, is much cheaper, but because the Radboud group cares about the environment, we want to make an effort to acquire this electric motor. However, this amount is quite large, so we need your help..

History

Geschiedenis

Like many scouting groups in the Netherlands, the Radboud group was founded in 1945. The group started as a land scouting group under the Annakerk on the Amsterdamseweg in Amstelveen. The first group consisted of Welpen and Verkenners. Later, the group moved from land to water. This led to the introduction of lelievletten for the Verkenners, who then began to call themselves Zeeverkenners. It was not until the 1970s that several new branches were added to the group. First, the girls also found a place in the new branch 'the Watergidsen'. The youth could now stay with the group longer, and the Wildevaart was established with its own boat. In the early 1990s, the newest branches were established. For the youngest girls, an enthusiastic Kabouters branch was created, and for the oldest, the Loodsen were established. The Loodsen have had a bumpy road, with a short break from the late 1990s until 2004, when the branch was revitalized..

The Kabouters and Welpen have also undergone a nice change. The groups of boys and girls merged in 2008. They continued under the branch name Dolphins. From Scouting Netherlands, all names for the age category 7-11 were abolished in 2011 to keep just one name: the Welpen. For the Radboud group, this meant that the Dolphins continued under the name Welpen after just three years, now including both boys and girls..

In 2011, the Radboud group moved from the eastern location along the Handweg to the current northern location at Doorweg 32. Both locations border the Amstelveense Poel, where the Lelievletten of the Radboudgroup have been raising their sails for over 50 years..

The Radboud group is the only water scouting group in Amstelveen that sails on our own Poel. This beautiful and quiet pond in the Amsterdam Forest is a fantastic learning place to learn to sail in a safe and good way. The Radboud group offers plenty of opportunities for that. Or do you just enjoy being outside a lot? Playing in the woods with peers? Then you are also at the right place with the Radboud group!
